Points of Light was founded in 1990 by President George H. W. Bush as an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization to encourage and empower the spirit of service.
Points of Light’s mission is to inspire, equip and mobilize people to take action that changes the world. Their vision is a world in which more people share their time, talent
and resources to change lives.
Points of Light embraces volunteer service and civic engagement as fundamental to a purposeful life and essential to a healthy world. With more than 20 years of history, a bi-partisan presidential legacy, the largest national volunteer footprint in the nation, Points of Light has the vision and strategy to create a quantum leap for the service movement through 2012.
